A name that makes me pensive
yet evokes unarticulated happiness,
A name that makes my heart melt,
A name that gives me strength.
'MA' - I dedicate this to you.
----------------------------------------------------
My birth, blessings showered,
My nascent breath,
Jubiliations,
An addition to the small nest.
Then, enthralled were you by my prattle,
Now, hearing your voice,
In any situation, calms my nerves,
They settle.
A brat was I,
A cry,
Seemingly injected with a drug,
Of superfluous mischief and boundless energy.
I screamed, I destroyed, a Devil Prodigy.
Such a brat was I,
In retrospect, absence of siblings,
Now it stings,
I was a handful, wasn't I?
I made things tough,
I surmise, so Papa and you declared - 'One is more than ENOUGH'
I know I drove you crazy.
A constant struggle you dealt with, to remain sane.
I know that somewhere I was a pain,
But, you took it in your stride,
Happiness, you managed to feign.
Aplomb galore, even though I was equal to four.
Abundant - Love that was showered.
Redudant- thought I,
Engulfed with aggressive naivety,
My concern lowered.
My faults, in want of correction,
Whenever reprimanded,
I ignored, my eyes rolled.
In retrospect, when I remember those days,
Eyes unleash a deluge, tears flow.
Coolness, u epitomized,
A friend,
who comforted me in all my cries.
A friend,
who listened to stories about all my crushes,
A rarity,
seen from someone who nourishes.
Modern yet cultured,
Ingenious, you balanced work and home,
You, I now emulate,
I know what to tread,
The path is already shown.
Now, married and away,
When in silence I lay,
I always think of you and remember things you used to say.
I miss those days.
I desire to return to innocence,
To experience your motherly fragrance.
A heightened deja vu,
With roles replaced.
Your actions and reactions,
Substantiated now.
Travails, understood now,
Answers given to the perplexed 'whats' 'whys' and 'how'
So now, a deep breath,
To hold high my head,
Ma, my beautiful MA,
The embodiment of truth,
The melange of love, clarity and pulchritude.
My pride,
Someone I can call always mine.
I love you and always will.
Ill see you soon Ma,
I wish to nestle again in those arms.
Lots of love, Yours and always yours, PAM.
Well versed!!! You were the only blessing of parents!!!
